Dolphins defenders Tyrel Dodson, Dante Trader Jr. swap jersey numbers

Miami Dolphins linebacker Tyrel Dodson and rookie safety Dante Trader Jr. swapped jersey numbers ahead of the team’s regular season debut against the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Dolphins reporter Travis Wingfield, Dodson is now in the No. 25 jersey and Trader has taken over No. 11. Neither player has explained the switch yet, but it puts Dodson back in the jersey number he wore during his final season with the Buffalo Bills in 2023. Trader wore No. 12 during his collegiate career with the Maryland Terrapins, but that number has been retired by the Dolphins in honor of quarterback Bob Griese.

Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post also shared the jersey numbers of five new Dolphins as well as a different number for wide receiver Tahj Washington:

Washington was assigned No. 82 as a rookie, but spent his entire first season on the Dolphins’ injured reserve. In July, he changed to No. 7 ahead of training camp, but now he’s taken the No. 84 that previously belonged to Erik Ezukanma.
